Al Kags: Lessons from Kenya on how Open Data efforts can build more accountable governments and empower citizens to manage their own data

Al Kags is a seasoned tech entrepreneur who left the private sector in 2005 to help the Kenyan government shape its first digital strategy. He is now the Executive Director of the Open Institute, a non-profit that  works daily with local groups, Kenyan public and private sector leaders, and across the African continent to consider the implications of the use of citizen data and educate citizens about how they can manage their own data. Joining me for this episode is my friend, Claudine Lim, who led the popular “Pulse on the Principles” Podcast.  I hope you enjoy this discussion about how open data can create more engaged citizens and accountable governments.
